BOB BAFFERT's HORSES LOSE BY A NECK AND A NOSE. At Oaklawn Park, Bob Baffert had seconditis and lost couple close ones. In the first division, Long Range Toddy defeated Improbable by a neck. Long Range Toddy went off at 8-1 and paid $18.80, $4.20, and $2.60 for WPS. A $1 Exacta 2-9 paid $22.90. In the second division, Omaha Beach nosed out Game Winner and paid $10.80, $3.80, and $3.20 for WPS. $1 Exacta 6-5 paid $11.30.
DID YOU USE THE LONG SHOT THAT I GAVE YOU (LAST SATURDAY) IN YOUR SELECTIONS? I mentioned in my selections that Long Range Toddy shouldn't be 10-1 morning line odds. Guess what? He won at 8-1 odds!
A VERY TROUBLING SITUATION AT SANTA ANITA PARK. Sadly, another horse death occurred and raises the number of horse deaths to twenty two. This latest incident prompted track officials to incorporate a new ruling: banning medications on horses' scheduled racing days. Needless to say, major investigations are going on; soil testing is just one of them. Could severe wet weather have played a major role, or is it a combination of other factors? A desperate solution is much needed. Let's hope it will be resolved soon. Best wishes to all those involved.

DID YOU KNOW THAT 2019 SARATOGA RACING SEASON STARTS EARLIER THIS YEAR? With a lot of construction going on at Belmont Park, the racing season at Saratoga Race Course (for thoroughbreds) has been impacted severely. One of the biggest changes includes the racing season stretching out by an additional two weeks. Instead of the opening day occurring later part of July, it is scheduled earlier: July 11th (Thurs). However, the number of racing days remains the same: 40 days. Another change is that Mondays will also become as dark days; i.e., no racing. Check out the dates for the huge graded stakes races: The Diana Handicap, Jim Dandy, Whitney, Fourstardave, Alabama, Travers Stakes, and much more! As usual, Labor Day (Sept. 2nd--Mon) is the last day of the meet.

A NEW CONCEPT: "ROULETTE" IN HORSE RACE BETTING! Did you know that there is a new type of bet that is available at Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park? It's called "Roulette". The purpose of the new type of bet is to entice new people into horse race betting! In a race, each horse number belongs to one of the following three groups: red, black, and green. If the horse that wins is in the group that you select, you're a winner. Usually, the red group consists of the morning line favorite. The black group consists of medium odds horses. The green group consists of long shots. There could be different number of horses in each group. Of the 3 groups, red group pays the lowest; black group plays a medium amount; and the green group pays the highest amount. Generally, the payoffs are lower than a Win bet because you're taking lesser risk to win. The minimum cost is $2.00. Also, there must be a minimum of six horses in a field. Otherwise, this bet is not available to play.
